The Agilent® 5110 inductively couple plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES) is a plasma source optical emission spectrometer. This instrument is capable of determining concentrations of metals and metalloids from parts per billion to parts per million level.

Agilent® 8900 QQQ-ICP-MS (WTI, DST Funded)
The Agilent® 8900 triple quadrupole inductively couple plasma mass spectrometer (QQQ-ICP-MS) is a collision reaction cell equipped single collection mass spectrometer. This instrument is capable of determining concentrations of metals and metalloids from low parts per trillion to parts per million level.

Class 10000 Clean Laboratory (Metal and Volatile Free)
The geochemistry facilities include a Class 10000 Clean Laboratory with Class 10 work benches. The laboratory is metal and volatile free allowing for trace level metal and metalloid sample processing. The facilities included are as follows:

Quadrupole ICPMS (Thermo X Series II)
The Thermo X Series quadrupole ICPMS has a single collector (SEM) that can operate in both analog and pulse counting modes thereby allowing simultaneous analyses of elements that are present in wt% to ppt levels.

Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (Thermo Triton Plus)
The Thermo Triton Plus is a state of the art multi-collector Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer equipped with 9 Faraday collectors, 4 ion counters along with a RPQ. We routinely analyze Sr, Nd and Ca stable isotopes (check back for more updates).

Thermo Scientific IRMS Delta V with dual inlet and Continious flow mode. Installed 2013 (Funded by Dutch Shell, Netherlands)
The IRMS Delta V is dedicated for O17 study in CO2 molecules using dual inlet peripheral. This is connected with a peripheral “Flash TC/EA” for analysis of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen isotopes in organics (in solid state) in a continious flow mode.

Thermo Scientific IRMS MAT 253 with Multi collector Installed 2008 (Cutting Edge Research grant, MHRD XI Plan)
The IRMS MAT 253 with Multi collector is dedicated for CO2 clumped isotope reserach. This is attaccahed with a peripheral “Gas bench” for analysis of oxygen and hydrogen isotopes in water and vapour samples (in liquid state).
